Andreea Nowak is Environmental Policy Specialist at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). She works on decision-support tools for analyzing countries’ readiness to adopt and scale-out climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and for selecting, analyzing and prioritizing CSA practices. She currently leads the CSA Country Profiles initiative, a collaboration between CIAT, CCAFS, The World Bank, and CATIE, aimed to identify national and local enabling environments for CSA, from an agronomic, environmental, social, financial, policy and institutional point of view.  She has previously worked with CIAT on topics related to water-food-energy nexus under various climate change scenarios and conservation of ecosystem services for food security.

Andreea’s background is in political science and natural resource management, with project experience in Latin America, Africa, and South Asia. She holds a BA In political Science (University of Bucharest, Romania) and a MSc in International Development and Project Management, Specialization on Sustainable development and natural resource management (Lund University, Sweden). Her graduate thesis was focused in an Andean watershed in Colombia,  exploring institutional mechanisms for equitable distribution of ecosystem services benefits among watershed stakeholders aiming for biodiversity conservation, food security and economic growth.
