Lucas Rutting works as a Scenarios and Policy researcher for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change Agiculture and Food Security (CCAFS) at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), Oxford University.
He coordinates the CCAFS scenarios work in East and West Africa, which is at the interface of science and policy. As such, he collaborates closely with CGIAR partners in these regions, to bring together key stakeholders and develop combined climate and socio-economic scenarios to improve policies or plans regarding agriculture, rural livelihoods, and food security, at the regional, national and local level.
Lucas was trained as ecologist and natural resources manager. Prior to joining the CCAFS scenario team, he worked as a lecturer at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Amsterdam for five years. His teaching was focused on a range of interdisciplinary themes, including (socio-ecological) systems, complexity science and scenarios thinking.
