Alessandro De Pinto is a research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute and an environmental and natural resource economist with a 15 year experience working in economically depressed areas. His research focuses on land use management and economic spatial analysis and uses a series of modeling techniques that make it possible to simulate location specific effects of policy changes and their consequent environmental effects.

He is currently conducting and managing research projects on climate change mitigation in agriculture in Morocco, Ghana, Mozambique, and Vietnam and is also conducting research on the economics of land degradation.
