Lecturer at NUI Galway: Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security

Applications are invited for a fixed-term appointment as Lecturer Below the Bar (Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security). The Lecturer will have primary responsibilities for coordinating, lecturing, supervising research and driving growth, impact and international reputation of (a) the inter-disciplinary 1 year Masters degree in Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (MScCCAFS) in collaboration with the global CCAFS program and other partners; (b) the inter-disciplinary 2 year Masters degree in Climate Change, Agriculture and Transitions (MScACT) in collaboration with five EU universities and other partners (http://master-act.eu/).
The Lecturer will be located within the NUI Galway School of Natural Sciences, and associated with the Plant and AgriBiosciences Research Centre (PABC). Candidates with inter-disciplinary research interests and experience in relation to climate change, agriculture and food security research, particularly at the international level (including in developing countries) are encouraged to apply.
Ideally, the successful candidate will complement existing expertise within the MScCCAFS/MScACT programs and the Plant & AgriBiosciences Research Centre (PABC). The successful applicant will be expected to contribute significantly to postgraduate teaching on the MScCCAFS & MScACT, teaching on the Plant & AgriBiosciences undergraduate degree pathway, and supervision and coordination of research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
He or she will contribute to the administration of the MScCCAFS / MScACT programmes, including international recruitment, curriculum review and ongoing development of the MScCCAFS / MScACT programs. The successful candidate will be encouraged to lever funding to strengthen the MScCCAFS/MScACT and the PABC. The candidate should be willing to travel internationally (including to developing countries) to strengthen links with partners, and to coordinate and supervise research activities of NUI Galway MScCCAFS/MScACT students working with developing country partners.
Overall, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute via the MScCCAFS/ MScACT programs to the training and research activities of the Plant and AgriBiosciences Research Centre (PABC) within NUI Galway.

Salary: €36,230 to €56,782 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
