The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the World Bank Group have organised a Pre - SBSTA meeting on CSA Alliance: Building Climate Change Resilience in Africa
Climate Smart Agriculture Alliance for Africa
The concept of climate smart agriculture (CSA) is gaining wider acceptance, particularly in Africa where majority of its people are already experiencing impacts of climate change. CSA can allow farmers in Africa to help reduce emissions intensity through innovative adaptation actions, policies and financial means that address food security and sustain livelihoods.
The purpose of the meeting is to advance understanding and garner support for CSA as an important strategy for climate change adaptation and mitigation in Africa. The meeting will focus on:
- Strengthening Africa’s voice in the Global CSA Alliance
- Deliberations on how to advance CSA in Africa as an adaptation, mitigation and risk management strategy and identify financial opportunities for up scaling.
