Transformation Initiative Paper Launch | Adapting to Climate Change: Possible Adaptation Pathways
The first of five work package papers commissioned for the Transforming Food Systems Under a Changing Climate initiative, on adaptation pathways, will be launched at an event at the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development Annual General Assembly.
Please note this event is by invitation only.
Background
Objectives
This meeting has two objectives:
- To discuss the different adaptation pathways that will be needed for different sectors of the rural population, how inclusive so-called inclusive business models can be, and some of the key leverage points for meeting adaptation and transformation goals. The results of this discussion will feed into a CCAFS’ synthesis report for the Transforming Global Food Systems under a Changing Climate initiative.
- To exchange updates of donors (and others’) latest initiatives related to climate-resilient agriculture, to support coordination and collaboration in policies and programmes.
About the consultation session (Part I):
We look to discuss the different adaptation pathways that will be needed for different sectors of the rural population, how inclusive so-called inclusive business models can be, and some of the key leverage points for meeting adaptation and transformation goals.
- Are the proposed adaptation pathways sufficiently realistic? Do they cover most of the likely situations in rural areas?
- Are the mechanisms proposed to drive each pathway appropriate, incl. for marginalised groups?
