Call for contributions to critical investigation supporting scale-up of climate-smart agriculture

Submit your proposal of a book chapter investigating opportunities and obstacles to scaling up climate-smart agriculture.
While there is a significant body of knowledge available to support scaling up of climate-smart agriculture (CSA), gaps in our understanding of farm management technologies, crop varieties and seed systems, models of climate impacts, and institutions still limit actions to create productive, adaptive, and low emission agricultural systems.
To close this gap, the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), in collaboration with the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), invites scientists and development actors to submit applications for publication of book chapter in an open-access book investigating opportunities and obstacles to scaling up CSA, the Climate-Smart Agriculture Papers (‘CSA Papers’).
What are the CSA Papers?
The CSA Papers will support the documentation and sharing of lessons from unpublished or on-going research and development interventions relating to CSA broadly, with emphasis on experiences in Eastern and Southern Africa.
We expect that the initiative will help form a cadre of thought leaders that can help take CSA to the next level of implementation.
Call for applications:
Book chapter contributions should draw on unpublished work centered on ONE of the following themes (i) Climate impacts on smallholder livelihoods; (ii) Time- and cost- effective delivery of climate-smart varieties; (iii) Reducing climate risks to value chains; (iv) Prioritizing farm-level soil and water management interventions; (v) Strategies for scaling-up CSA and success factors.
Interested applicants are invited to submit their proposal for a chapter by filling in the application form in English and sending it by July 18, 2017.
Honoraria and travel grants for participation at a write shop and relevant conferences for presentation of selected papers will be available for authors.
