Abdoulaye Djido

Abdoulaye Djido is currently Science Officer for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), for the West Africa (WA) region, based at ICRISAT WA regional office in Bamako, Mali. His research interests entail topics in rural development and applied development economics. Recently, his research has focused on technology uptake and dissemination, labor and land productivity, livelihood and income diversification, gender and youth in agriculture, trade integration and climate change.

Before joining CCAFS in Bamako, Abdoulaye Djido held a position at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Kigali, Rwanda, where he worked on the potential impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on regional trade integration. Prior to that, Dr. Djido was a Lecturer at Abdou Moumouni University (UAM) in Niamey, Niger, where he taught intermediate microeconomics and introductory courses in econometrics and data analysis. His professional career started at Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) in Nairobi, Kenya, where he began as a Consultant evaluating the ex-post impact of IFAD funded projects in Madagascar and Kenya. He then served as a Visiting Scientist at PEP.

Abdoulaye Djido holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University in the US (2014), a MSc in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University in the US (2009) and a Bachelor in Agricultural Economics from the University of Mostaganem in Algeria (2005).

Abdoulaye Djido is a native of Niger. He speaks Hausa, Djerma, French and English.
