CLIFF-GRADS workshop
On the sidelines of the 5th Global Science Conference on Climate-Smart Agriculture, students from the current CLIFF-GRADS program attended a two-day workshop.
About the CLIFF-GRADS program
Climate, Food and Farming - Global Research Alliance Development Scholarships (CLIFF-GRADS) is a joint initiative of the CCAFS Low Emissions Development Flagship and the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA). CLIFF-GRADS builds the capability of early-career scientists and graduate students from developing countries to conduct applied research on climate change mitigation in agriculture with the goal of expanding knowledge and experience in quantification of agricultural greenhouse gases and food loss and waste. Since 2011, a large number of students have received grants and have gone on to hold important positions in research institutions and governments.
About the workshop
The goals of this two-day CLIFF-GRADS workshop were to build students' capacity in low emissions development and the estimation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in agriculture, contribute to the formation of a network of young professionals, and provide an opportunity to attend a global science conference and network with leading scientists. This meeting was organized to introduce methods and tools of modeling GHG emissions and mitigation, the development of GHG inventories and career and professional development to the CLIFF-GRADS fellows. In addition, the workshop provided a platform for CLIFF-GRADS fellows to present their research work, discuss and refine their methodologies, and conduct professional networking.
