Peter Läderach is the Leader of the Climate-Smart Technologies and Practices Flagship of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and is based in Rome, Italy. He's currently also seconded to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as a Principal Climate Scientist on behalf of CCAFS. 

Peter led the expansion of CIAT's Climate Change program to Central America, Africa and Asia, with extensive work experience in more than 15 countries. He has nearly 20 years of research experience in developing countries to support the goals of alleviating poverty, adapting to and mitigating climate change, building resilience and protecting the environment. He also led climate change assessments of the International Fund for Agricultural Development investment plans globally and advised WFP on its climate programming. 

Peter holds an MSc in Geography and a PhD in Tropical Agriculture (summa cum laude). He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and books.
