As the world is getting warmer, droughts are intensifying, leading to food insecurity, malnutrition, starvation and widespread famine. This, in turn, can lead to internal and cross-border migration, social unrest and even conflict in extreme cases. So how can we transform the food system, and improve food security in vulnerable and conflict-prone regions?

The new Nature Food article 'Investment in resilient food systems in the most vulnerable and fragile regions is critical as food insecurity is on the rise', which was co-authored by CCAFS' Ana María Loboguerrero Rodríguez, addresses what a food systems transformation would require to address the specific challenges of climate-vulnerable and conflict-prone areas.
