IDB Lab, the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), has participated in the creation of a pioneering fund to provide microfinance loans for climate change adaptation to small farmers in Latin America. The Small Farmers Climate Change Adaptation Fund, with a total of $30 million in loans and $2 million in technical assistance for microfinance institutions and farmers, is administered by Add-Value Management, a company founded to design, structure, and manage the SMAF, which designed the fund’s strategy in collaboration with the Alliance Bioversity International - CIAT and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).
