The 42nd sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) will take place between 1 and 11 June 2015.

This year's SBSTA represents important progress in getting substantive discussions of agriculture on the agenda in UNFCCC: issues related to agriculture will be discussed in two dedicated workshops. In the lead-up to SBSTA, parties and observers were invited to submit their views by to the UNFCCC Secretariat on: 1) Development of early warning systems and contingency plans in relation to extreme weather events and its effects such as desertification, drought, floods, landslides, storm surge, soil erosion, and saline water intrusion; and 2) Assessment of risk and vulnerability of agricultural systems to different climate change scenarios at regional, national and local levels, including but not limited to pests and diseases. These submissions will be discussed at a set of workshops starting this year, which aim to provide information for consideration by Parties as they prepare for implementation of the 2015 agreement.
