Marieke Veeger
Marieke Veeger is a scenarios and policy researcher for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) at the University for International Cooperation (UCI).
Marieke leads the Future Scenarios Program in Latin America, collaborating closely with CCAFS and the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) of Oxford University. Bringing together key stakeholders and decision makers from public, private and research sectors on regional, national and local levels, she designs and coordinates scenario guided policymaking processes. The future scenarios are created and used to improve planning and investments considering the socio-economic uncertainties related to climate change adaptation and mitigation in agriculture, food systems, environment and livelihoods.
As a geographer in training graduated from the Vrije Universiteit in the Netherlands, Marieke studied institutional, policy and behavior changes in natural resource management. Working in social innovation convinced her of the strength of multidisciplinary teams, whereas implementing and coordinating international development projects in Africa and Latin America over the last 10 years specialized her in rural development, agriculture, food security, climate change and public-private partnerships.
