Africa Focus: Africa adopts new initiative to help farmers tackle climate risks
CGIAR Climate's insight:
Several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are providing millions of farmers with "climate information services" to adapt to increased weather and climate extremes and help boost food production, said a new study released by France- based international agricultural research body CGIAR on Tuesday.
The study by the CGIAR's research program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) says climate information services advise farmers about the upcoming growing season, from shorter-term weather alerts to seasonal climate forecasts.
