Project description

The core team in the Flagship for Priorities and Policies for CSA engage in a wide range of supportive activities that bolster the work of the projects, partners and Centres. These include leading a Learning Platform on ex-ante impact assessment and priority setting, liaising with IFPRI and the World Bank, conducting foresight and policy analyses, and capturing and synthesising knowledge gained from across regions and projects.

The Learning Platform on ex-ante evaluation aims to bring a consistent and coherent climate change lens to priority setting in Centre and CRP programs and projects, so that foresight is enhanced and steers CGIAR strategy to ensure future relevance. The Learning Platform helps address ex-ante evaluation of climate-smart practices, technologies and policies, helps set realistic CSA targets, and interfaces with CRP breeding programs and foresight modelling work. The work will contribute to developing information concerning what is “climate-smart” in different contexts and at different scales, identifying appropriate baskets of different interventions for different situations, and defining thresholds for system and livelihood transformation.

The Flagship synthesis project also supports other policy and priority projects with communications assistance to promote research outputs and works to draw lessons from across projects to help inform future directions of research and engagement.
