The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and le Centre de Suivi Ecologique (CSE) have come together to organize a workshop that will promote knowledge sharing as an important tool for decision making for better climate change, agriculture and food security policies in West Africa.

Due to climate change, there is a need for all stakeholders to pool efforts and develop more inclusive tools and processes to share information and good practices. Therefore Dakar, Senegal, is ready to welcome 38 participants from four countries in the Sub-Saharan Africa Region, all gathering to discuss the implementation of an Information and Knowledge Sharing Platform, for national state agencies, researchers and academics, farmer organizations and NGOs involved in decision-making and policy direction on climate change, agriculture and food security.

The overall objective of the workshop is to strengthen and potentially establish a country specific network for core national practitioners. Other aims include:

  •  Reflect on national priorities on climate change, agriculture and food security,
  •  Define a participatory and interactive process to collaborate, and
  • Look into creating a wider regional platform between researchers and policymakers.
