Objectives

This workshop brings together about 70 people drawn from the CGIAR, global environmental change research community and regional partners. Inspired by some high-level presentations on topics at the interface of climate change, agriculture and food security

  • To identify elements within CCAFS that should be prioritised for collaboration
  • To co-design CCAFS calls for collaborative planning workshops during 2012

Day 1 – Friday 10th June

09:10 Broad overview of CCAFS, underlining need for collaboration between development agriculture and global change science agendas and communities – Bruce Campbell

09:20 Brief summary from CCAFS Cancun meeting, Dec 2010 – Lini Wollenberg

09:30 4 x 15-minute presentations (+ 10 min discussion each) on major research challenges in the CCAFS context and as related to Sustainable Intensification (some speakers TBC)

11:00 COFFEE BREAK

11:30 10 people (selected by WS Organising Cmmtt from 100 word abstracts) to give 3 mins presentations to ‘champion’ specific topics they feel are important areas for collaboration

Selection of 6 – 8 topics to take forward

14:00 6 - 8 breakout workshops (ideally each comprising devel ag and GEC people; and mix of social and natural science as necessary) on agreed topics

Each ‘idea champion’ to polish Concept Note and send to CCAFS Copenhagen by 11 July for (i) consideration for funds for detailed planning WS in early 2012; and (ii) informal discussion with possible donors.
