The Ghanaian cocoa sector under the leadership of the Ghanaian Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) made important strides towards climate resilience. Exposure maps developed jointly with CCAFS were combined with exposure gradient specific climate-smart agriculture practices in a national training manual of obligatory use for all public and private extension targeting the 800,000 cocoa farmers in the country.

Additional climate-smart agriculture specific training materials were developed with the World Cocoa Foundation. Four pilots are on-going with private sector actors to study how to incentivize climate-smart agriculture uptake by farmers. This change occurred through on-going engagement by project partners (IITA, Rainforest Alliance, Sustainable Food Lab) with the World Cocoa Foundation, COCOBOD and key private sector actors such as Agro ECOM, Olam, Kuapa Kokoo and Mondelez.
