Africa Group of Negotiators working sessions on agriculture and gender submissions

Workshops to prepare submissions on agriculture and gender for the upcoming SBSTA 44 (May 2016 ).

The African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the Africa Development Bank (AfDB), the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD), the National Gender and Equality Commission of Kenya and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) are convening a working session for the AGN agriculture and gender negotiators and experts to prepare the submission on the issues related to agriculture and gender:

  • 3c.Identification of adaptation measures, taking into account the diversity of the agricultural systems, indigenous knowledge systems and the differences in scale as well as possible co-benefits and sharing experiences in research and development and on the ground activities, including socioeconomic, environmental and gender aspects,”
  • 3d. Identification and assessment of agricultural practices and technologies to enhance productivity in a sustainable manner, food security and resilience, considering the differences in agro-ecological zones and farming systems, such as different grassland and cropland practices and systems,” and
  •  “Gender responsive climate policy with a focus on adaptation and capacity building and training for delegates on gender issues,”
