The FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, in collaboration with PROSALUS, are organizing this workshop within the Plan for Knowledge Transfer, Exchange and Management for Developing Spanish Cooperation in Latin America and the Caribbean - INTERCOONECTA

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • Identifying the main challenges that climate change poses to food security and to the right for food in the region in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals
  • Taking advantage of lessons learnt in different contexts in the region to stimulate agricultural resilience to climate change
  • Identifying the main relevant actors in mitigating and adapting to climate change in agriculture and creating collaborations and knowledge transfers between them
  • Strengthening the political compromise in the region to incentivize climate change-resilient agriculture that contributes to food security and ensures the right to food

The workshop targets representatives from public institutions, elected authorities, universities and research centers, and regional and civil society organizations who are dedicated, have relevant experience and knowledge in promoting climate change-resilient agriculture in the region.

Deissy Martinez-Baron, Science Officer for CCAFS Latin America, will participate in the panel discussion on “Current and potential climate change impacts in agriculture, food security and right to food in Latin America and the Caribbean”.
