Varsities team up to avail farmer’ latest climate change information - CoastWeek Kenya
CGIAR Climate's insight:
Photo: N. Palmer (CIAT). According to Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) research, up to 17 percent of households in Nyando are unable to meet their food needs for 3 to 4 months in a year mostly due to poor timing of planting season and planting of unrecommended seeds. CCAFS, Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) and Ministry of Agriculture are working at empowering farmers within the basin to manage climate risk through a combination of crop diversification and improved practices.
