COP21 side event: Climate change adaptation: Lessons and needs
This dialogue addresses the need for climate change adaptation, especially in the face of increasing climate extremes, and recent lessons from adaptation actions.
Low regret adaptation actions must provide benefits in the short run, and that is happening at the community level in many instances where adaptation is linked to present-day safety and livelihood needs. In addition, in longer term losses and damages are expected to increase exponentially unless new mechanisms and bold action will be initiated.
