Kenya's Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (MEWNR) and CCAFS have organised a roundtable to bring together stakeholders in a dialogue on the National Climate Change Action Plan

At the recently concluded United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference held in Bonn, the Kenyan delegation and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) East Africa Program, held a forum on implementing the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP) 2013-2017.

During the meeting, it was agreed that due to its inclusiveness, the NCCAP had ownership across stakeholders and there is a need for active participation of the stakeholders in its implementation including in resource mobilisation. At the same time, it was concluded that implementing the NCCAP will require active participation and contribution from the research community especially on the priority adaptation and mitigation actions.

Consequently, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (MEWNR) and CCAFS have organised a round table to bring together stakeholders from Government, research institutions, CSOs, farmer organisations and private sector to dialogue and identify key thematic areas for partnership and collaboration to ensure full implementation of the NCCAP. Focusing on the agricultural sector, it is also anticipated that at the end of the meeting, participants will have refined ideas for the National Adaptation Planning event scheduled for September, 2013.
