International conference on agricultural emissions and food security: Connecting research to policy and practice

The conference will promote a multi-stakeholder dialogue among researchers, policymakers, farmers and industry representatives to identify mitigation research opportunities, future activities and research priorities.

Germany, as the incoming chair of the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) and as chair of the Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI), is organizing the International conference on agricultural GHG emissions and food security - Connecting research to policy and practice with the participation of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).

The high-level international research outreach conference will take place in Berlin between 10 and 13 September 2018 and is hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and supported by the Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries (Thünen Institute). 

The aim of the conference is to promote a multi-stakeholder dialogue between researchers, policymakers, farmers and industry representatives in order to identify further mitigation research opportunities and future activities and research priorities to be addressed at national, EU and international levels. The outcome of the conference should feed into ongoing debates and emerging challenges concerning the contribution of agriculture to climate change mitigation.

Schedule:

  • Scientific Conference – 10 Sept (all day) and 11 Sept (morning)
  • Stakeholder Conference – 11 Sept (afternoon) and 12 Sept (all day)
  • Field trips (different options) – 13 Sept (all day)

The outcomes of the scientific event will be presented within the stakeholder conference.

Registration:

Registration is open online until June 30 2018 via the online registration tool.

Registrants may register for the entire event or for the stakeholder conference only. Places are limited so early registration is welcome. In case that you have registered but cannot attend, we kindly ask you to cancel your registration. Participation in the conference event is free, but participants must cover their own costs for travel and accommodation.
