International Symposium for Scaling-up and Out of Climate-Smart Technologies and Practices for Sustainable Agriculture
On November 5th, 2019, the International Symposium for Scaling-up and Out of Climate-Smart Technologies and Practices for Sustainable Agriculture will be held in Tokyo, Japan, with a keynote speech by CCAFS' Dhanush Dinesh.
Background
Scientists have warned us that climate change is already affecting our everyday lives. The global average temperature has already risen 1 degree compared to the pre-industrial period. Climate change, including increased frequency and intensity of severe weather such as heat-waves, droughts and heavy precipitation, has adversely affected food security and the ecosystem. All these things are having huge effects on agriculture worldwide.
We need to accelerate research and implementation of climate-smart technologies that will help to promote sustainable agriculture. What do we need to scale up new technologies and methods? The International Symposium for Scaling-up and Out of Climate-Smart Technologies and Practices for Sustainable Agriculture, hosted by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), will discuss how climate-smart technologies and practices can effectively be delivered to farmers.
Online registration for the Symposium has been closed. If you would like to participate the symposim, please contact: +81-3-6744-2473, climate_smart_ws@maff.go.jp.
The Symposium will be followed by a workshop on world trends of climate change and agriculture (closed).
