The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual Meeting is one of the most widely recognized global science events which will this year, be held on 16-20 February in Vancouver, B.C.  The theme of “Flattening the World: Building the Global Knowledge Society” is intended to focus the program on the complex, interconnected challenges of the 21st century and on pathways to global solutions through international, multidisciplinary efforts.

Once annually, AAAS sponsors an international conference — four days of symposia, lectures, seminars, workshops, and poster sessions that cover every area of science, technology, and education. The focus of the 2012 meeting is on using the power of electronic communications and information resources to tackle the complex problems of the 21st century on a global scale through international, multidisciplinary efforts. The interconnections among, for example, climate change, agriculture, and health are as yet poorly understood; predictive modeling is in its infancy.

The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) will be represented by the Program Director Bruce Campbell who will give a presentation.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, "Triple A-S" (AAAS), is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world by serving as an educator, leader, spokesperson and professional association.
