John Recha, Participatory Action Research Specialist for the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) in East Africa, highlights key impacts of the climate crisis on food systems, include shifting agroecological zones, outbreaks of pests and diseas, reduced pastures and water availibility. He explains that climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices such as solar irrigation, climate-information systems and agricultural advisories can help build increasingly resilient agricultural livelihoods.
