Frans Berkhout: Ebola, climate change and food security are just some of the challenges that research and science can help us face and bring knowledge that we can act on

CGIAR Climate's insight:

Recent studies by the Cgiar research programme on climate change, agriculture and food security (CCAFS) look at the interconnectedness of climate change and food production systems, combining climate modelling with social research techniques to better understand how the world’s farmers can react to climate change.

For example, in India, CCAFS South Asia is supporting a study that will equip genebanks with seeds that are “climate-ready”. This means they have genetic resources that are resilient to climatic stresses such as severe heat or scarce water.
