Climate change and the Pacific
Project description
Pacific island communities are particularly vulnerable to the impact of climate change, and it already impacts the region’s food systems.
This project worked with stakeholders in the Pacific to find the best ways for CCAFS to strengthen the adaptive capacity and resilience of Pacific Island communities.
The project aimed to complete a plan of action for CCAFS work among Pacific climate change partners and in direct engagements with Pacific Island communities between 2015 and 2016. Specifically, the project identified key research priorities for CCAFS in the Pacific, key strategic partners to achieve impacts, and key research providers for CCAFS to partner with.
The project aimed to integrate food systems approaches to climate change policy and investments on the Pacific.
Outputs
- Stakeholder scenario workshops were conducted to contribute to national planning in the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and regional processes.
- CCAFS produced a food systems publication to integrate public health issues with climate adaptation: Climate change and Pacific Island food systems
