Partnerships

A broad-based global partnership

CCAFS works not only with scientists but with a wide range of institutions in government, civil society and the private sector. The program includes over 700 partners worldwide, and 41 strategic partners, of which 26 are research and development partners and 15 are CGIAR Centers.

The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) works as a strategic global partnership between the world's leading research institutions on agriculture, climate change, and food security.

Partnerships enable CCAFS to create space for key groups to engage in dialogue that is underpinned by science. Only through partnerships can CCAFS foster interchange between knowledge and action, rather than simply set up pathways for knowledge to inform action.

CGIAR

CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for sustainable development with the funders of this work. The funders include developing and industrialized country governments, foundations, and international and regional organizations. The work they support is carried out by the 15 Centers of the CGIAR, in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector.

CCAFS is a collaboration among all 15 CGIAR Research Centers and coordinates with the other CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs) and Platforms. Our partnership creates significant new avenues for interaction and synergies. CCAFS research builds on our comparative advantages and goes beyond what could be done by any one program or group of Centers.

CIAT

CCAFS is led by the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)now part of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIATan agricultural research institution focused on scientific solutions to hunger in the tropics. Based in Cali, Colombia, CIAT has been helping smallholders grow more food and earn more money for nearly 50 years. Established in 1970, as one of the four original Research Centers of CGIAR, CIAT now works in more than 50 countries worldwide.
