Vietnam's agriculture sector has been suffering from salinity intrusion, prolonged drought episodes, and abnormal freezing conditions, which have severely affected the country's agricultural production and the livelihoods of farming communities.

To address these multiple concerns, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a workshop with development partners and international donors to share and gather information and insights on possible solutions for the short- and long-term.

Leocadio Sebastian, CCAFS' regional program leader for Southeast Asia and country representative of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), CCAFS' host institution in the region, participated in the workshop and sharedtechnologies and management practices that have been tested by IRRI in Vietnam.
