The CCAFS Regional Program in South Asia will organise a two day Science-Policy Interface on climate change, agriculture and food security issues on 20 - 21 April in Nepal. The proposed event will review current policy elements, and sensitize key political leaders, policy makers and other stakeholders to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation, and provide recommendations for policy formulation and implementation in Nepal.

The CCAFS Regional Program in South Asia will organise a two day Science-Policy Interface on climate change, agriculture and food security issues on 20 - 21 April in Nepal. The proposed event will review current policy elements, and sensitize key political leaders, policy makers and other stakeholders to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation, and provide recommendations for policy formulation and implementation in Nepal.

Specifically the interface aims to:

  • Review the impacts of climate change on Nepal’s agriculture and possible adaptation and mitigation strategies;
  • Discuss NAPA/NAMA of the Government of Nepal regarding their suitability for adaptation in Nepal;
  • Suggest possible policy options for adapting to climate change;
  • Sensitize political leaders to climate change issues and the possible impacts this may have on Nepal’s agriculture and food security.
