Global and regional nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions have been increasing rapidly, especially between 1995 and 2008. In particular, Asia’s agriculture has been significantly increasing its output of N2O into the atmosphere.
The International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and Latin American Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Network (LAMNET) invite you to a webinar on top-down and bottom-up approaches to estimate N2O emissions, with a focus on soil.
In her presentation, Dr. Saikawa will discuss the various modelling approaches she has used in her research to observe this rise.
About the speaker
Eri Saikawa is Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Emory College of Arts and Sciences and at the Department of Environmental Health in the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She is an affiliated faculty in the Institute for Quantitative Theory and Methods, the East Asian Studies Program, as well as in the Center for Study of Law, Politics and Economics. Her research focuses on analyzing sources and magnitude of emissions linked to air pollution, ozone depletion, and climate change, as well as the impacts of these emissions on humans and society. She is also interested in analyzing and developing policy measures designed to reduce these emissions, and how politics play a role in policymaking processes.
