Événements

This study program is grounded on SEARCA and IIRR’s proven experience in conducting innovative regional learning activities and working with communities on climate resilient agriculture (CRA). Likewise, the program, as part of the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN) activities, aims to increase the capacities of its members and partners to further advocate for CRA programs and projects.

CRA recognizes that climatic risks to agriculture-based livelihoods are occurring at a much greater pace and intensity. To address this, context-specific local solutions are needed. The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) developed the Climate-Smart Village (CSV) approach to help reorient and transform existing agricultural systems to support food security. In the Philippines, CCAFS supported the establishment of the Guinayangan CSV in Quezon in 2014. In this study program, you will have the chance to visit Guinayangan and observe processes involved in building a CSV. You can also engage with and learn directly from the stakeholders.

Objectives

At the end of the study program, you are expected to:
  1. have an increased knowledge and understanding of the CSV approach, based on the Guinayangan CSV experience in the Philippines; and
  2. identify practical strategies and approaches for promoting and scaling CSA practices in your respective areas of work and fields of expertise, as well as to contribute to the regional community of practice for CRA.

Methodology

The study program will commence with interactive plenary sessions, introducing basic concepts and frameworks. The roving workshop will be the main learning methodology for this activity. This methodology involves learning and processing insights as you visit different learning communities. This makes for a meaningful learning experience, as you will be more engaged in the learning processinteracting directly with stakeholders, observing, and processing your insights as you move along in the field visits. The program will conclude with a reflection and planning session, to allow you to integrate insights gained into the action plans that you will implement when you return to your respective organizations.
